History of the Hall County Family Connection Network
The Hall County Family Connection Network is the Family Connection Collaborative for Hall County. The Network is the public/private governance body responsible for the decision-making process to improve results for children, families and communities in Hall County.
When the Annie E. Casey Foundation released its inaugural national KIDS COUNT report in 1990 to track the status of children in the United States, Georgia placed 50th.
Gov. Zell Miller responded to this state's dismal ranking in 1991 by establishing a two-year pilot initiative designed to coordinate services for the educational, social, economic, and physical well-being of Georgia's youngest, most vulnerable citizens. He called the initiative Georgia Family Connection.
The Hall County Family Connection collaborative began meeting in 1991 as one of the original "pilot" Family Connection sites.
Hall County 's collaborative evolved from a meet-and-confer body in 1991 to a quasi-governmental body of experienced community leaders. In January 1999, legislation was presented (and signed by Governor Roy Barnes on April 23, 1999) creating the Hall County Commission for Children and Families.
In 2010 the name of the collaborative was changed to the Hall County Family Connection Network.
